A dog: to have or not to have?
You won't have weekends. This cycle will never end. You will never relax. Morning and evening walks are waiting for you even on high days and holidays. You will not be able to travel on business trips and during vacations. Life will turn into two events: walk and feed. Walks are not simply walks; they should be long and full-fledged, interesting and cheerful with observing people, dogs, children, cats, different objects and scents.
Get ready for constant sense of guilt before the dog. It remains home alone all day long. No one is playing with it, and talking to it. In the evening when you come, you want only one thing – to lie in your bed or sit quietly in the armchair and smoke a cigarette. But your dog is sitting beside you, looking at you, and is waiting for a long walk.
You will get accustomed to barking, whining and snarling at guests. Guests will soon cease to disturb you, unlike your neighbours.
Very soon you will turn from a sociable person into lonely insane dog-owner. You will become uninteresting person, you will not be invited anywhere.
You will no longer remember names, but will recognize all surrounding dogs at once.
Put up with the fact that the dog will pursue you everywhere in your apartment. You won't be able to visit the lavatory alone. You will learn to sleep as much as your dog does.
If you're not still frightened, it means that you are ready to keep a dog. Take it and enjoy your life.
